The Solvay Process has made Sodium Bicarbonate easy to make and affordable to make in industrial sizes. Sodium Bicarbonate is also known as Soda Ash and is known to be one of the greatest household chemicals. The Solvay Process was first used in the 1860′s and now has become popular for producing the mass amounts of Soda Ash that remains in high demand due to its many uses in everyday household products. Brunner Mond has been of the lead developers worldwide in producing Soda Ash through methods comparable to the Solvay Process which is still being used today because of the effectiveness and the relatively low cost of production.
