What is the difference between Cold forming tooling and extruding?
Extruding is a method of shaping a metal into a desired form wherein the metal slugs are deformed into an aluminum I-beam. An extrusion die squeezes the metal to fit the desired shape by using extremely high pressure coming from the punch. On the other hand, in Cold Forming Tooling, both the die and the punch are used to create the shape that you want. Unlike extruding, the desired form is brought about by creating the desired shape, which is the same as the shape of the punch. This is why both the punch and the dies are used in this method.
